2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Review

Chevy’s entry-level 2025 chevrolet equinox ev is a sensible small SUV that offers plenty of passenger room and an excellent EPA-estimated 285-mile range. It drives and handles much like its gas-powered counterpart and is quick enough to comfortably beat rivals on a figure-eight lap. It has a big rear cargo area, too, at 26 cubic feet with the back seats folded down. We also liked its easy-to-use infotainment system and standard Adaptive Cruise Control, which lets the car maintain its desired speed on the highway and can even brake to avoid slowing down for approaching traffic.

Chevrolet’s low base price and long warranty help the Equinox EV be competitive with many of the other models we’ve tested. It’s especially able to hold its own against the likes of the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia Niro EV and Volkswagen ID4. Still, it lacks some key features that are offered on competitors, such as Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring and a high-resolution infotainment display with Google Play Store apps.

For 2025, the Equinox EV gets a minor power bump; front-drive versions get an extra 12 horsepower and reach 213 while all-wheel drive models gain a similar amount and reach 300. Additionally, Chevy has done away with the numbered trim levels of last year in favor of a more simplified duo of LT and RS models, with options packages adding additional equipment. Owners will likely want to consider the pricier RS model, which comes with heated and ventilated front seats, a sunroof and an interior in a saucy Adrenaline Red color scheme.
